Christmas Eve/Day

Blake and Blair had a great Christmas despite the fact that most of us were sick.  Scott and Blake went to the Christmas Eve service at church.  When they got home we hung stockings, put out cookies for Santa, sprinkled food for the reindeer and hung Santa's magic key on the door.  When Blake awoke on Christmas morning he said, "I told you he would come".  Blair didn't quite know where to start and was finished with it all when we about halfway through.  She was most excited about a pair of hot pink patent leather shoes that I got her.  The problem was they were too small!  It was pitiful to watch her try to put them on.     

Pre-School Program

Blake and Blair had their pre-school program today.  Blake was excited and he did a good job.  Scott and I were really curious to see what Blair would do and how she would react to all of the people there to watch.  She did great!  She took the job of ringing the jingle bells very seriously as shown by the look on her face.  She enjoyed clapping at the end of the songs most and was very excited when she spotted her brother.

Santa

He held Santa's finger and rubbed the glove the whole time.  

We went to "Brunch with Santa" after church today.  We asked Blake on the way there if he was going to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what he wanted for Christmas.  He said he was going to but I had my doubts.  Well, he did sit on Santa's lap.  In fact, he leapt into Santa's lap and proceeded to carry on a full conversation.  (Mom and Dad, does this remind you of anyone?  Too bad we don't have a Brendles catalog anymore!)  This guy is really great though.  He told Blake he rode the sleigh into the Army base and they were taking good care of the reindeer.  (This was of concern to Blake.)  Blair wouldn't have much to do with Santa which I expected.  Maybe next year.  

On another subject, Blake took communion today.  Our pastors are really good with the kids and Blake did exactly as he was told.  He wouldn't eat the wafer but he of course drank the grape juice.  Earlier in the service we had a scripture reading from Isaiah.  One of the verses said something about people being like the grass or are grass and Blake said, (fairly loudly), "Huh, people are grass!"  It got a good laugh from those around us.  We never know what he's going to say!         

Blair

Blair loves to ride this zebra thing we have.  She can bounce up and down and spin around.  She also loves to wear these blue swim goggles that we have and you can see that she thinks it's a hoot to do both at the same time.  She has a very peculiar personality and this side doesn't come out very often.  She is very discerning and sometimes shy.  I love to see her act silly! 

Blankies and Babies

Blake and Blair love their blankies and they each have a stuffed animal that is the favorite.  Blake has a puppy and Blair has a lamb.  After their nap the other day they both ended up on our bed and I was able to get a couple of cute pictures.  

Tree Getting

We went to North Carolina over Thanksgiving and got our tree.  Blake had a lot of fun this year as evidenced by his muddy bottom.  Fortunately, I brought a change of clothes.  He liked all of the trees and he especially loved the little leftover piles of snow.  Our tree is gigantic!  I had to buy more lights today!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Yesterday was Scott's birthday and in Blake's world no birthday is complete without a party.  Which means cake, balloons, presents, party hats and horns.  I think everybody had a good time!

Ft. Donelson

A couple of Sunday's ago it was such a beautiful day that we decided to go for a ride.  We drove up to Ft. Donelson, a national battlefield, in Dover, TN.  There are bald eagles nesting there (which we saw) and it's just a pretty place.  We had a nice time.  

Hayride/Bonfire

We had a hayride and bonfire Saturday with our Sunday School class.  It is always a great time.  Blake ate his first smore and LOVED it!  

Trick-or-Treating

Our friends Heath and Kathy and their girls Alison and Erin came over on Halloween.  We ate chili and then went to a few houses on our street.  Blair didn't take a nap that afternoon so she was so tired.  We put her to bed and then Scott took Blake to more houses on our street.  We had a great time and Blake just loved it.  He asked me yesterday when he could go trick-or-treating again.

Halloween Party

Some mommies amaze me and Amy is one of them.  She is a mother of three and her husband is deployed in Afghanistan.  Today she hosted (at her house) a Halloween party.  There were 12 kids under the age of 5 there!  Everyone came in costume.  The kids played, decorated shirts, each got a treat bag full of really cool goodies, ate "mummy dogs", fruit, veggies, chips and decorated cupcakes.  Who could ask for more??  Everyone had a great time!  Thanks Amy!

Blake wanted to be a dragon and he wanted Blair to be a flower.  They seem pretty happy with their costumes and I think they look adorable!

Yesterday I took B&B to the Monkey Treehouse in Nashville. We met some friends and had a great time. There were so many things to do. I would've taken more pictures but they were darting around like flies. I asked Blake what his favorite part was and he said, "the slides", "the sand", "the dinosaurs" and "the trains" and there was so much more than that!  I think we will definitely go back.  My favorite part was spending a little time with Christy & Amy.       

New Hampshire/Maine

Last week we took a trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire and to Acadia National Park in Maine with our friends Steve and Christy.    The fall colors were beautiful.  The pictures really can't do it justice.  We took a couple of hikes, went sailing, ate LOTS of lobster and got to relax a little.  We had a great time!
