The kids and I spent the week with my parents. The weather was really nice and we got to do a lot of playing outside and visiting with family. We took Blake to the playground. He also got to go to Bays Mountain with his Nana.
If you are thinking of going to Dollywood then this is the summer to go. The crowd was very light and according to the staff, attendance is down overall. Blake was pretty worn out by Sunday the kids left with my parents and Scott's mom around 2:00. Scott and I stayed and rode some of the bigger rides. We didn't have to wait in a single line.
We went to Gatlinburg last weekend. Saturday we took the kids to the aquarium. It was really neat, well worth the time. Then we went to The Track. Blake and Scott rode a go cart and Blake rode several of the kiddie rides they had there. We went back the to condo and went swimming. Blake kicked across the pool holding onto a small float. My parents came for dinner and the boys went for a drive. They saw two bears, two bear cubs and deer.
Blake has been asking for watermelon so we bought one at the Farmer's Market. We spent the afternoon playing in the "pool" and water table. The playing consisted of Blake dumping buckets of water on Scott and me. We got out the watermelon and as you can see he enjoyed it. Blair did too.
Blake keeps us on our toes. He insisted on putting his snow clothes on the other day. It was only 85 degrees outside. Why not?? He got completely dressed and opened the backdoor to go outside. He stood there for a minute, then under his breath said, "phew"and proceeded to undress. He LOVES outside. I am also including a picture of the cat he drew. I was pretty impressed.
Blair is such a joy. These are some recent pictures that I thought I would share. She is really enjoying warm weather and playing outside. She was 15 months old yesterday.
Our family came this weekend for Blake's birthday. We all had a great time. Nana Jane made Blake's cake--Thomas. I think he was a little overwhelmed with all of the presents. He told me this morning that his birthday was "still up". I'm just glad he had such a good time.
Yesterday was Blake's third birthday. He had a busy day. He had his "Spring Sing" at school and class pictures. Last night we took Blake to Chuck E. Cheese's. Our friends Steve, Christy, Emily Grace and Caleb met us there. We had a great time playing games and eating pizza. We came home for cake and our friends Heath, Kathy, Alison and Erin joined us. Once again, I have to brag that I have the BEST babysitter. Mallory made Blake's cake! It was beautiful and yummy. Blake's birthday will be a week long affair with cupcakes at school on Wednesday and the family coming this weekend for a party. Good thing he LOVES cake.
Blake had swim lessons today at the Y. He did pretty good. I think he was more interested in splashing than swimming though. He isn't scared of the water and was really excited to be there.
When you say Blair is SO BIG, she does this! We are doing better with the eating and texture issues. She loves blueberry muffins, Cheerios and most all breads. She tried ham and cheese yesterday. We are making progress.
At 6:30 this morning, (yes that's right, 6:30) Blake decides that he wants to put on his black dress shoes and run around the house. Well, at that moment the WHOLE house was up! We were in the process of getting dressed for the day when "Choo Choo Soul" came on the Disney Channel. Well, Blake really likes it and he decided to dance! I am quite sure he will hate me for this picture one day! I did manage to talk him out of the dress shoes and into tennis shoes for our day.
Scott went to the Masters and I took B&B to visit the family. Blake wanted to take a bath in the BIG bathtub. My dad instructed him in the fine art of squirt toys. He is now an expert!
